On Saturday, a private media outlet has reported that the Lahore Height Court (LHC) has released their written judgments on requests against celebrating the spring Basant Festival in Punjab.
According to the court verdict, the Punjab government has decided to Ban the kite flying event across the province this year.

As on 24th January 2019, the government of Punjab has confirmed the date to celebrate the Basant festival in Lahore and other cities of Punjab. The people were excited after hearing the news from the Fayaz-ul-Hassan Chohan, culture minister of Punjab. As per the announcement, the date for the Lahore Basant Festival is February 10, 2019. Before allowing Basant celebrations, the court had ordered the government to give protection for the lives and properties of people.
Basant lovers are happy as before they were in between, “Basant honi hai, nahi honi?”

As most of the citizens are against this festival, they had taken the government to the court pleading to lift the ban and should not allow the Basant Spring Festival at the cost of human lives. They do not agree with the decision of the government and pleaded to uphold the 12-year-old ban. And, the government banned the Basant festival again…!

Well, Basant is now a lifestyle of Pakistani People. Though it’s not a tradition or culture it has been celebrated for several years in Pakistan. For about 12 years it has been banned but for many years this festival takes place in the spring and the people of Punjab had enjoyed celebrating this festival.
