How did the journey with music start?
I had a big influence of Eminem, Lil Wayne, 2pac, Akon, Snoop Dogg etc.11 years back who started attracting me towards making hip hop music.
When did it click that rap was your life?
In my school days.
Where do you find your artistic inspiration?
I found my artistic inspiration from new generation artists like Drake, Swae Lee, French Montana, The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, 6lack etc.
How was your experience performing at ‘Pepsi Pakistan Rap battle 2019’? Would you term it as a turning point in your career?
My experience performing there was extremely awesome. It was a good opportunity for everyone who was part of this Pepsi Rap Battle and yes, i think it was a good contribution in Pakistani Hip Hop scene.
What would be your dream collaboration with any rapper or musician?
Drake, Eminem, Sidhu Moose Wala, Snoop Dogg, The Weekend etc.
The best memory about any musical gig you performed?
The best memory was that when i performed my hip hop tracks for the first time and the crowd did my songs along with me. It was completely unexpected in the time where Hip Hop Scene was not that big.
How has the current lock-down situation affected your creativity/music?
It is not exactly affecting the creativity, its just delaying or creating difficulties for the on ground works like video shoots etc.
How would you want the world to remember you?
As a legend and an inspirational artist and at the end a good human being.
How do you feel about the future of hip hop industry in Pakistan?
It is evolving day by day. There are some really good upcoming hip hop artists who are doing really good. Also there are real good opportunities popping up time by time, and i think the future of Pakistani Hip Hop is going on the brighter side.
What’s next for “Aqeel Sarfaraz?
There are plenty of upcoming projects, some are collaborations and some are solos, including one with Pepsi and Few with Rahim and few surprises with some big names.
