Ayub Yaqoob Engineering – A startup providing everyone an equal playing field
People with special needs put in a lot more effort to do things we never even give a thought to. The landscape of our environment isn’t best suited for the people who might be struggling through such circumstances. As it turns out, most things used in our daily life are not being made with keeping such people in mind. This is where ‘Ayub Yaqoob Engineering (AYECo)’ comes in, with a mission to give everyone an equal playing field.
Founded on 1st of December back in 2017, AYECo is a Lahore based startup that develops, manufactures and markets powered electric wheelchairs and the likes of products, that could be beneficial for people who are handicapped or have functional disabilities. Some of the products that are more renowned and widely used are; Go-Cane- a cane for people that are visually impaired which uses vibrations to signal the person whether there’s an obstacle in their way, and GOBEE- one of the world’s first smart electric wheelchairs.
Founded by Faaiz Arbab, a student of LUMS University, the company AYECo has seen lots of success and attention in the business world, winning several awards in the short time the company has been started, like the ‘National Design Award Pakistan 2018’ and the ‘Young Entrepreneurs Award By APEX learning 2018’. Moreover, the company has and still remains to receive a decent amount of attention from investors as it keeps raising handsome amounts of money, like it did back in 2019 when it raised US$ 75.0k.
The success of the startup is proof that there should be a concentrated effort in providing people with functional disabilities a better life. Indeed the development of AYECo is playing a huge role towards this goal in Pakistan.
