There comes a time in the life of every average teenager when he or she has to make some very tough and life changing decisions in different shapes or forms. But what every teenager has in common is the problem he or she faces whilst filling the university forms, not knowing what to pursue as his or her professional career.
But that’s all fairly common. No one really talks about what happens next. Once you’re admitted into a university, you’re seen as a grown up and have to cope with all the upcoming problems yourselves; no academies, no counseling, no help. It’s just you and yourself as you get ready to face the struggles of ‘practical life’ for the next four years, if you’re lucky that is.
Whether you are doing engineering, becoming a doctor or have gotten enrolled in a business university, the dilemmas you face are almost all the same. Following are a few things almost every student has to go through once they pursue for further studies:
Ragging:

The first few weeks in a university can be a lot of fun but it can also be torture to be brutally honest. Almost all universities have strict ragging and bullying policies that are proactive during the first few days of the semester but even this ‘strictness’ does not stop the senior batches from welcoming the first years in their own style. So don’t be surprised if you see your friends running around in circles without their shoes or even wearing heavy makeup on their faces. Oh and if somebody comes and says ‘I love you’ to your face, don’t be too happy, it’s probably just a dare!
Assignments:
If you think ragging was tough, wait till you get a taste of countless assignments being bombarded at you. No matter how lenient or strict the instructor is, there is never any compromise on assignments and their deadlines. Assignments are given to students the same way Sim Cards are distributed these days; for free! Of course you can always ignore them but that comes at a heavy cost which you will bear once you find out your CGPA stands at 2.60.
Lunch Scene:

University life can be really expensive. Not having much to do around the campus in your free time, you will probably find yourself roaming on the roads in search for entertainment and food more often than not. The search for a restaurant will continue till your friends find an economical ‘Dhaba’ with the best ‘chai’ that is not only sufficient for survival but also easy on the pocket
Morning Classes:

University life cannot be complete without messed up routines. Staying up all night talking to your ‘Jiggars & Jaanis’ or possibly binge watching FRIENDS comes at a heavy cost. Waking up the next day for the most boring 8 A.M lectures are painstaking to say the least. Hadn’t it been for the strict attendance policies, no one would have gotten up from their beds just to stare at the face of the expressionless professor with half closed eyes.
Group Projects:

If there is anything you’ll quickly learn in your university, it is that you must be wary of whom you pick as your group members. Group projects and presentations usually carry a lot of weightage when it comes to the final grade, so ignoring your friends and being a little selfish every once in a while can always help turning that B into an A. One of the more clever boys prefer working in an all-girls group not just because he gets a chance to have a chat with them every now and again, but also because girls are usually very good at presentations. Then of course, we have the free riders in every group that do nothing but pay for the photocopies; an effort that somehow earns them a decent enough grade at the end.
Combine Study:

Soon there will come a time when exams will be right around the corner. At that very moment you’ll regret bunking all those classes just for a ‘Chai-Sutta’ with the gang. But hang on! You still got this. You’ll probably call over your group to study for the exams. As time will pass you will soon find out that combine study is nothing but a mere tension releaser. You will probably end up gossiping about ‘that couple’ or ‘the cute boy you saw in the library’ or probably spend a bit of your ‘break time’ over FIFA or trying on makeup in case of girls. The poor lad who came to teach will also forget his concepts and upon receiving the results, you’ll get to hear the famous student cry that echoes in the walls of almost every university: “Yaar agli baar say pakka parhna hay”
