From Biryani to Nihari and everything in between!
16th October, the day to appreciate something we all love and cannot live without- FOOD! As Pakistanis, food is something that we value above everything else. Whether we’re sad, happy, depressed, or tensed, the first thing that comes to our mind is food. And why shouldn’t we put food above everything else? It has never broken our heart and has never let us down. We can always count on it to be there for us when no one else is.
The most difficult thing for me is to choose my favorite food. The spicy biryani is such a mood but then Chicken Karahi has its own vibe. Not to forget the fulfilling feeling you get after eating a heavy zinger burger. How can I forget the traditional taste of the salty tikkas made especially in KPK? Or the stuffed meat and rice dish you can get from any place in Balochistan? There is just so much to choose from! We Pakistanis are so blessed to have such a variety of tasty dishes available at every street. Apart from all this savory food, we have a lot of options in the sweet category too. Chawal ke kher, Gulab Jamun, Kulfi, Gajar ka halwa and so much more. The cravings are endless.
While World Food Day is a wonderful time to think about all the yummy dishes we love to eat, let us not forget the less fortunate who are struggling to get food on their tables. In 2019, let us all come together and think of sustainable ways to end hunger and provide equal opportunity for everyone to enjoy food. This is a basic necessity and everyone deserves to lead a happy and healthy life. Play your part and contribute in any small way that you can.
