Guitarist, Drummer and a Western Vocalist – Meet Young Music Sensation ‘Zayan Usman’

Tell us about yourself? What got you into music?

I’m Zayan and I’m 14 years old. I love doing music and sports. As a young kid I was always fond of listening to songs with my family in the car and I always loved to explore multiple instruments. After my parents realized that I was really fond of music and wanted to pursue it they put me and my brother in guitar school, where I learnt multiple instruments as well as vocals.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Ambitious, Inquisitive, Easy going.

Tell us a song that best describes you?

I haven’t ever thought about a song that way. I don’t have one in mind.

Which famous musicians do you admire? Why?

I admire artists based of their talent. I don’t stick to a specific genre when I listen to music. I admire artists such as:

• Billie Eilish (I like her because of the way she expresses herself through music and how she is who she wants to be)
• BTS (I like BTS because of their talent and their music. They have taken music to another level through their energetic performances and they spread a very important message regarding loving yourself)
• Twenty-one Pilots (Their music never disappoints and is just always fun to listen to)
• Maanu (He has amazing songs)

What is your favorite song to perform?

My favorite song to perform is I’m yours by Jason Mraz.

What musicians would you love to work with in the future?

There are A LOT of artists I would love to work with some of which are Lewis Capaldi, Halsey, BTS, Billie Eilish and Twenty one pilots.

You call yourself a Guitarist, Drummer and a vocalist, which one do you enjoy most?

I enjoy drumming the most.

If you could open a show for any artist who would it be?

Its hard to choose one but I think I would want to open for Halsey.

At the end of the day, what do you hope people take away from your music?

I haven’t yet started to make my own music but once I do I would like to spread the message of self love and that everyone should be who they want to be and do what they want to. Everyone isn’t perfect and life isn’t always fair but not being perfect is fine.

What’s next for you?

For now, I’m going to pursue music and collaborate with artists and get into a good university.
