Kudos to the New ‘King Of Rap’ Mr. Aqeel
Pepsi Black recently held Pakistan’s biggest rap battle in which aspiring rappers from all over the nation sent in their entries to participate. Aqeel came out as the winner among 170 mind-blowing entries.
Although the Pakistani music industry has been improving of late, there is still a lot to do before we can compete with the international industry. One move towards reaching this goal comes with the Pepsi Black project. Pepsi Black launched a competition for every young Pakistani rapper to submit entries of themselves rapping. In a total of 12 days, over 170 people submitted their entries. Out of this total, seven were shortlisted and were promoted to the next round of competition.
The talent was immense. No one had anticipated that such profound rapper existed in Pakistan. They knew their work and they knew the rap game better than anyone else. These individuals were made to fight an intense social media battle where the ultimate winner was chosen by people’s votes. The best rapper was crowned the winner. Aqeel Sarfraz was given the title of rap ‘King’ as he got the most likes on his submission.
Aqeel was born and bred in Lahore. He had started rapping just over 11 years ago. He had never gotten a chance to perform in front of a big crowd. His opportunity to shine came with Pepsi Black. Aqeel’s tracks and he himself is inspired by some of the most renowned rappers including Eminem and 2 PAC.
We thank Pepsi Black for giving our young talent an opportunity to show their work to the world and prove that they are nothing short of amazing.
