Lollywood is getting its groove back with many successful movies in the past few years. It is slowly getting out of its shell that was created by the commercial Indian movies. Motorcycle girl, after cake is another feat achieved by this cinema.
The movie directed by Sarwar (maker of Shah) is the testament of the fact that strong script and powerful acting can get you both money and critical appraise. And on top of that, the movie is female centric. Well most part of it.

Motorcycle Girl is a fictitious attempt at picturizing the story of Zenith Irfan, a Pakistani traveler. Zenith is a woman from Lahore who sets off to a journey on her bike all by herself. She goes against the norms of our society and travels to north to adhere to the environment her father wanted to. Soha Ali Abro plays the main role of Zenith with quite conviction. Zenith is considered to be a trend breaker. She is known for travelling alone on her bike. Her story got viral after she wrote about her experiences on her blog ‘one girl, two wheels’. In the movie however, the plot deviates from the story but it still manages to move you from the inside.
The movie sheds light upon many social causes all at the same. Starting from feminism, gender equality, workplace injustice and societal pressure, the movie gets clogged sometimes. The perspective gets lost in between for moments and the ‘exploration through journey’ part of the movie gets compromised.
Talking about the characters, every actor played its bit with utmost dedication. It felt all real out there, Samina Peerzada as the conventional mother, Ali kazmi as the misogynist fiancé and Hadi Arshad as the supportive brother were the pieces that made this movie worth your time.
So ladies get your gloves on, strap on your helmet and give that bike of yours a kick. Get, Set, Go! Watch Motorcycle girl because it is an inspiration and nothing else.
