Lok Mela Comes to Islamabad; Here’s Why You Should Go

The 10-day folk festival organized by Lok Virsa Museum is in full swing at Shakarparian, Islamabad till November 24th and we’re excited about everything it has to offer.
We’ve all been exposed to how beautiful Pakistans culture is, the Lok Mela brings the entirety of it in one space and is a well-organized display of everything from local artisans to musicians to cuisines. The festival is a chance to experience different aspects of our provincial cultures and is curated in a walk-through way of sorts. Each province has a designated area; you walk into each space as if you’re walking in to each province. There’s also a space for Kashmir!
We’re extremely rich on cultural tourism as a country and the Lok Mela is a perfect way to encapsulate this. From being able to eat Gilgiti snacks to watching a Baloch group perform their traditional dance, one really can understand the breadth of what it means being Pakistani. It’s as vibrant as it can get. So if you’re in town, we’d highly recommend going for the experience. Whether you want to shop for local crafts, try our different cuisines, experience the different dances and music of the country, the Lok Mela has something for everyone!
