Mehwish Hayat is one of the most talked about celebrities of 2019. After receiving her Tamgh-e-Imtiaz in August, fans have kept a close eye on everything she does. She has been facing a lot of criticism for her work the most recent one being the dance she did on HUM Awards. Aamir Liaquat called her out on Twitter for her dance performance in ‘Hum Awards 2019’. Her dance rehearsal video had already faced a lot of backlash from her fans due to apparent unsuitable clothing and offensive dance moves. Some fans came to her support saying that the awards have always promoted such dances but as a representative of Pakistan, this behavior is highly questionable.
Earlier in October, Mehwish was appointed ‘Goodwill ambassador for girl’s rights’ by Pakistan’s ministry of human rights. This was another controversial move because people named many other celebrities who were more deserving of this title. Mehwish addressed these issues and said that this was something close to her and that she looked forward to actively raising awareness of the issues to be addressed. She advocates giving girls the better future they deserve.
One of the highly controversial acts by Mehwish has been her refusal to talk about the Kashmir issue. In a leaked video, she can be seen refusing to speak on the turbulent Kashmir issue. A reporter made multiple attempts to ask Hayat to comment on the Kashmir issue, but she refused to pass any comment about it and said that she was not allowed to talk about Kashmir. Later on, she made another video where she did talk about the issue and addressed the social media concerns of being anti-patriotic. Mehwish Hayat will have to keep up with these controversies and address them before things get out of hand!
