Pakistan struggling to fight against the water crisis: Its now or never!
The time has come. Actions need to be taken before we drain Pakistan of its water completely and there will be nothing left for our children.
According to multiple United Nations (UN) and International Monetary Fund (IMF), Pakistan may reach a severe water scarcity by 6 to 7 years in the future. Which means that by 2025, we will hardly have water to use.

Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) in 2016 said that Pakistan had already touched the water-stress line by 1990 and crossed the line of water scarcity in 2005.
Some more researchers predict that Pakistan will be the most water-stressed country in the world by 2040. Which means that we would have entirely depleted our water resources and our rivers would run dry. Some water that would be left will not be fit to use. This will be followed by droughts and lack of food as many crops will not grow without artificial irrigation.
From the people living in North with glaciers around them today, to the people living in the south, no one will be immune to the water scarcity.

Chief Justice Punjab recently spoke, in the international symposium on the water crisis, that Pakistan’s water resources are depleting at an alarming rate.

While at the event in Supreme Court, he said that we are taking notices of the companies that are exhausting the remaining water resources as well as that causing deforestation. He further added that the glaciers of Pakistan are melting at a rapid rate. All of this calls for the citizens to take measures, he stated.
He said that emergency measures are being taken to construct Diamer-Bhasha Dam and, “This is the reason a fund was created since we lack the resources for the construction of big dams.”

In this time of crisis, we as citizens of Pakistan need to take this situation seriously and should take whatever measures necessary to save our water. Or else there will be nothing left to save.
