Pakistan’s fastest woman athlete, Sahib-e-Asra, is the proud daughter of a Masjid Imam

If you have the support of your father, there is nothing you cannot conquer. No matter where you live, what your father does, or what your life passions are, you have to be confident that you can make it and the world automatically starts supporting you. Sahib-e-Asra is a young girl belonging from a middle class family. She has been working hard to become a top athlete and in the last few years, she has been able to achieve her dream. She won the 100 meters gold medal in the national athletics championship. Asra took part in the 4×400m relay at South Asian Games Nepal and became a bright star last December.
What is surprising for most people is that her Sahib-e-Asra’s father is an Imam at a local masjid. Qari Alam Khan has always supported his daughter in every way. He never let the typical remarks come under the way of his daughter’s career. He passionately supported his daughter and showcased to the world that Islam is not about bounding women. He is an inspiration for all the people who think that Islam holds women back. He is also an icon for the feminist that we need in Pakistan. The perceptions of feminism have become so controversial that the real meaning behind the word has been lost. It is people like Qari Alam Khan who should be taken as the epitome of this movement.
People from all around the world have praised Sahib-e-Asra and her father for sharing their stories and being such a perfect father-daughter duo. More power to her!
