Sales: A Gimmick or A Bargain?
Summer sales, winter sales, Independence Day sales, and mid-season sales, these are just a few of the yearlong sale advertisements we see on various platforms every single week. It seems like brands cannot go without sales now and they know that people will come when they hear the S-word. The real question remains though: Are these sales actually beneficial for the customer or are they just gimmicks to lure in the customer? We have to be smart about this and really understand what these brands are doing.
Every brand claims it has what you need. Whether this is a clothing brand or one that specializes in home décor, they will mostly always tell you that you are missing out on their products and your life will not be the same without them. Sales advertisements use flashy colors, persuasive words, and influential designs to capture the attention of the possible consumer. They even use on ground marketing to lure in customers into buying extra products that they do not have to use anytime soon! We are so captivated by the minimal discounts that we cannot help but get our wallets out and spend our hearts out.
This is not to say that some sales aren’t actually useful. That once a year sale when everything is been given at a flat 50% off is the only sale you should be heading too. Big brands are clever brands and they know how to get you to shop. Times are tough and finances are low. Please do not be fooled by every advertisement you see that has the word ‘sale’ in it. Be smart in your choices and make sure you research well before going to shop.
