Bernhard Schlageck was appointed as the German Ambassador to Pakistan on August 2019. He did not know all that much about our country’s culture and traditions so he took to some of the most famous books written on Pakistan and read them thoroughly. He loved every bit of what he learned and the intriguing history of the country made him even more eager to start his tenure in Pakistan. Recently on Instagram, the ambassador posted a video with the caption: I love train rides – they are a great way to discover a country. So I went on a train journey from #Islamabad to #Karachi – 26 hours in total! Amazing experience – thank you @PakrailPK. I particularly enjoyed chatting with fellow voyagers. Have a look at the video about my trip.
Such exposure to the natural sites of Pakistan as shown in the video are a great way to educate people about what the country really is. Everyone needs to come to Pakistan to actually learn about its heritage. There is so much we can offer if we only get the opportunity to express ourselves.
His Excellency, Bernhard Schlageck also strongly believes that the political, economic and cultural relations between the two countries will strengthen with time. The German Consulate in Pakistan has been working really hard to give young people new opportunities. The ambassador also claims that with optimism and shared interests, the relation will flourish benefiting the public greatly. Such a positive attitude revealed in the actions of the ambassador surely gives us hope that our relations with the European countries will improve sooner than later. We look forward to hosting the ambassador for the coming few months.
