Recently Atif Aslam sat with Samina Peerzada in an interview and he recalled how Jal-the band broke up and how he began a musical journey of his own.
Atif Aslam revealed some of the shocking truths that led to the splitting up of the band we all loved.
He began by telling that Atif Aslam’s brother left his job to manage Jal-the band as he was working for a marketing company at that time. After a couple of months, Gohar Mumtaz, member of Jal-the band, came to him and said that they could not continue to perform in the band together. When Atif inquired for a reason, Gohar replied that he wanted his brother to manage the band as well.
Atif told in the interview that the reason for Gohar’s demand was because he believed that Atif was getting more money than him.
But a final blow towards break up was yet to come!
Jal-the band was supposed to perform in a concert of which Atif had committed and the band was rehearsing for it. But after a few days of rehearsing, Gohar demanded that Atif hand over the money of the concert to him. Atif told him that he had not received any money and that if he had received a payment he would have given it to him.
Gohar decided to ditch Atif and went to Karachi in a television show to represent Jal. He even lied to the TV Channel about Atif’s absence and told them that Atif could not come because of a death in his family.
It was then that Atif Aslam finally decided to take his journey solo. He also said that he does not have any grudges against Gohar. Gohar has met him a couple of times after the breakup and regretted the decision of letting Atif go from the band.
