The No-BS Guide to Winter Skincare
While I love winters and would do anything to control them from ever going away, I know that they destroy my skin. Winter skincare is a very very important aspect that you need to focus on. Here’s a small guide that you can follow to keep your skin fresh in the winters.
- Heavy moisturizer is not the solution
I see so many people going for the heaviest moisturizer they can find in the beauty section. This may not always help because many of us naturally have oily skin that breaks out easily. If you’re using an extremely light lotion in the summers, just move one step up in the winters. If, however, your skin is very dry, you can go with a rich moisturizer. Just make sure you don’t overuse it because your skin will start breaking out.
- Use Face Oils in the day
While going to work, mix a few drops of face oil with your lotion and apply it to your skin. Face Oils do not absorb in the skin and hence do not hydrate it but they can act as a really good protective layer. They add a glow to your skin that makes it smooth. The harsh winter winds tend to affect the skin but if you’re using a face oil, you’re safe. Face Oils can be too greasy if applied in excess so make sure you’re putting just the right amount.
- Avoid using hot water on the skin
It is impossible to get out of the shower in five minutes in winters. The hot water is not only relaxing but also reenergizing. Having said this, you should know that hot water could damage your skin really badly. Try to keep the water lukewarm to avoid skin from getting too flaky.
