The Soldiers of Rock & Roll

What got you all into music? How was the band formed?
It was back in 2005 during the active music scene of Pakistan. Ahmed and Anwaar were the first ones to start this band. However, the band was not that active for five years. It was when Qumber Kazmi joined in 2010 that the band actually started taking music seriously.
Which famous musicians do you admire? Why?
The Beatles has been our biggest inspiration. Apart from that, the rock n roll scene of the 60s and 70s has had a huge impact on our music style. In modern times we are huge fans of Coldplay.
How would you describe your music in three words?
Inspiring, quirky and motivational.
Tell us the story behind your song “The Anthem of Shabana”? What inspired it?
Nothing actually! It’s like Ahmed said on Pepsi BOB’s audition, the chorus line just came to him! This song was meant to be fun and a sing along.
Being a musician what you enjoy the most?
The thrill of a live performance. Nothing better than playing live in front of an energetic crowd.
The best memory about any musical gig you performed?
Last year we had the opportunity to play in Cadet College, Ormara. There is nothing better than a school and college audience. The response we got was the best we’ve ever had. We were actually very nervous as we were of the view that the cadet college students would be hard to open up to. But that was the best audience we’ve ever had. Plus the hospitality was amazing. What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked?
“Aap Coke Studio main kyun nahin jatay“.
What is the most rock star thing the whole band has done?
Left a concert because the organizer wanted us to cut down our performance to just one song.
How would you want the world to remember you?
We just want the world to remember us. (Lol)
What’s next on the bucket list of “E-Sharp”?
A lot actually! But first, a concert when this pandemic is over, Inshallah!
