Brrr….. Winters are here and with the cold winds, the new seasonal trends have arrived. I’m sure you have seen many lists from the likes of Vogue and Elle on what to wear. Many of these suggestions are suited better to the runway, however. Let’s discuss a few trends you should definitely stay away from in the next few months. Trust me, you don’t want to be caught dead in these!
Okay. I get it! Little bitty bags are adorable. They’re like bag babies, and you just want to hoard as many as possible. But here’s the thing, you have no use for them in winters. For any working individual or a student, you need at least a decent sized bag to put your necessities in. Bitty bags where you can’t even put your sunglasses and your phone together are an accessory and an expense you don’t need. At All!
Unless you know how to pull a neon turtleneck off, my advise would be to stay away. Neon can be a tricky layer to complement perfectly. Many South Asian complexions also clash horribly with Neon, and a few others look completely washed out. To counter this, many layers of beige, tan, or browns are worn. But if you want to keep it simple, stay away. However, if your craving for neon is super high, wear neon socks or a scarf. Neon jewelry and pumps are always a good idea.
Here is a trend most fashion mags do not write about. It’s perfectly normal to feel down this time of the year. With cheer and happiness of multiple holidays and vacations, your brain regulates by brooding. Do not fret, you can out-stubborn this trend as well. However, watch out for signs such as eating your weight in carbs and fat, or staying in bed for extensive periods. Get out of bed, eat a few veggies, make the most of this beautiful season. Don’t fall for the year-end despair either. Even if you are depressed and have accomplished nothing this year, remember this: You are enough and material accomplishments are not a tax you pay for existing. You are allowed to exist and be as happy or miserable as you want. Also, talk to a friend!
Another 80s trend along with neon that should stay in the 80s. For South Asian fashion, it is a no-no unless you want to look like Bushra Ansari impersonating Dolly Parton. Stick with normal blazers and unpadded shoulders. I promise you’ll look good!
Make sure to shake to sucker punch these trends and stay comfy this time of the year. If you are looking for no-brainer trends, oversized hoodies and hot cocoa are never wrong. Happy Winters!
