Truly Inspired: Truly Pakistan
Life asks us to sacrifice our most beloved possessions every now and then. It torments us to the core just to get to us and make things miserable so that we give up. Only those who have the courage and the patience, carry on to fight against all the odds and keep on clinging to the ropes of faith. God created these creatures in the shape of mothers. Mothers are the epitome of altruism and the most self-less beings on earth. You can do nothing but draw inspiration from them as they put you ahead of themselves at every step of life. Today on the occasion of mother’s day, we celebrate some truly heroic mothers from all over the country who have given us something to look up to.
Bilquees Bano:
Bilquees Edhi, also known as the ‘Mother of Pakistan’, is a big name in the world of philanthropy. She is a nurse by profession and has devoted her life to run the Edhi Foundation alongside her late husband, “Abdul Sattar Edhi”. She has adopted and looked over more than 16,000 babies under the name of Edhi Foundation. Bilquees Bano has also managed to get numerous underprivileged women married. Not only that but she also fostered countless children with special needs while working at the Edhi center. The woman is no less than a Messiah for the nation. Her contributions to the development of this country can never be paid back in this lifetime.
Zahida Kazmi:
Zahida is Pakistan’s first ever female taxi driver. She was newly widowed at the age of 33 and had the huge responsibility of bringing up 6 children all on her own. Kazmi mustered up the courage and bought a taxi on installments under the yellow cab scheme running those days. She took to the airport of Islamabad to pick up passengers and earn her living through that. Married at the young age of 13, Kazmi had no clue about what the outside world looked like but she was a woman at the end of the day, a mother and no matter what, they always figure out the way.
Basheeran:
Basheeran is a local of Hyderabad who drives taxi to make her end meet. She is the mother of 6 children, 4 boys and 2 girls. She belonged to a well fed family who married her to a kind man, who loved her immensely. However, after 14 years of their marriage, he died and left her responsible to take care of the family. Her husband persistently, taught her how to drive and this became the source of their income after his death. She married off all her children except one who became a junkie. She took the responsibility of another girl who belonged to a poor family and married her off. Basheeran is a true symbol of courage for all the single mothers out there. She is one of the reasons why motherhood is celebrated to be the gift of God bestowed upon us.
