Established in 2018, the ‘Yeh Ghalat Hai’ community is actively fighting to achieve gender equality in Pakistan. They have been participating in projects that negate gender-based violence and give women a chance to speak up for their rights. Pakistan is one of the main countries that suffers from gender-based violence. Over the years, there have been many uprisings and legal actions to address this issue. Yeh Ghalat Hai has been on the forefront of this movement to protect all citizens of the country.
According to the Facebook page of this community, “The objective of the ‘Yeh Ghalat Hai’ campaign is to bring to light and contribute to the elimination of all forms of gender-based violence. The ‘Yeh Ghalat Hai’ campaign can be found across multiple social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. The campaign seeks to educate and create discourse among Pakistanis on the social and economic costs of violence against women and girls, as well as provide legal education and resources for survivors of GBV.”
As Pakistanis and as humans, it is high time that we start recognizing the importance of speaking up against gender violence and supporting organizations, which are doing excellent work in this regard.
