Milo Futsal League: Pakistan Gets Hit By a Football Tornado

Nestle Milo in collaboration with Football club Barcelona, organized Pakistan’s very own inter school futsal league last month. It received more than 200 entries from all around the country making it a very competitive cup. The special thing about this tournament however, was the inclusion of female football teams. No Kidding right! We actually have a lot female talented players that grabbed the attention of the crowd that really supported the initiative taken by Milo. The last 2 legs were played in Karachi and Islamabad. The league had a great turnout mostly because they wanted to see how the girls play and were extremely impressed by the level of wit shown by them.
The final match of the cup was played in Lahore this week at the Model Town Football Association. The Beacon house School from Islamabad won the tournament in a thrilling match. Also, it was attended by two FC Barcelona coaches, Aitor and Alexis. Both of the coaches flew all the way to Lahore to witness a trend changing tournament in Pakistan. They were very impressed with the talent and passion for the game in the kids and applauded the efforts of the organizers. Along with that, two players will be joining them in Barcelona because of the sheer brilliance on the field presented by them.
Football is another neglected sport in Pakistan where the passion lies but the funds don’t. We have a great pool of talented kids here that love to watch and learn the sport internationally and cheer for different clubs playing in leagues worldwide. Pakistan came in third in the FIFA street child world cup played in Brazil in 2014. It came in second this year in the tournament happening in Russia after they lost to Uzbekistan in the finals on 17th May. It was a hard fought game but they lost it at the penalty shootouts by 6-5 after ending the match at 1 all. This is something to look forward for all the kids out there aspiring to be footballers. They have more opportunities coming their way and all they have to do is to hold on to their zest for the game.
